Do you LOVE Sauvignon Blanc? Do you want to celebrate this gorgeous wine varietal with the rest of the world, on
We've got a great guide on how to make the most of International Sauvignon Blanc Day, and this year's theme is 'What will you be doing on #SauvBlanc Day?'.
Whether you're a full-on wine geek, or you're more of a casual wine lover, there are tonnes of ways you can enjoy Sauv Blanc Day this year - and you can also grab a case of our award-winning Sauv to help you stock up for the big day (NZ shipping only and in the UK through Amazon).
Here are some great ways you can sip and celebrate on May 3rd:
Host a Sauvignon Blanc tasting
Get your gang together, ask everyone to bring a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and then taste each wine and discuss the differences, similarities, and tastes of each one. For extra 'wine geek' points, why not do a blind tasting where you put a sock or cover on each wine bottle and ask your guests to guess which region, vintage, or producer the wine is from?
Try a flight of Sauv at your local bar
This is a great way to experience a few different wines. Many bars and restaurants offer flights or tastings of wine, so do a little bit of research and find a place close to home where you can try small glasses of Sauv from different regions, vintages, and producers. There are some fascinating differences between Sauvs, so why not use Sauv Blanc Day as an excuse to explore them!
Do a vertical tasting of the same wine
If you're a bit of a wine buff, take your Sauv Day experience to the next level, by buying a few vintages of the same Sauv (try an oaked Sauvignon Blanc, which ages better), and discussing how the same wine has developed and changed over time. Do you prefer an older vintage Sauv, or something fresher? Our Sauvignon Blanc Oke is a great wine to try this fun challenge with - grab a case here.
Pack up a picnic and a bottle of Sauv
This is a lovely way to get out into the fresh air, and enjoy a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc in comfort and with friends. We're dreaming of a picnic hamper jam-packed with fresh local goodies like local cheeses, smoked salmon, cured meats and some fresh fruit for a gorgeous colourful platter. Just make sure you check your local liquor licence rules to ensure you can take wine to your picnic destination (and if all else fails, the back garden, courtyard or patio work perfectly as a picnic spot!).
Get social with your Sauv!
If wine tastings and vertical vintages aren't your
However you celebrate Sauvignon Blanc Day, we'd love to be part of it. Grab a bottle of our te Pa, Pa Road or Koha wine from your local stockist (available in supermarkets NZ-wide like New World, Countdown, Fresh Choice and Pak n Save and in independent liquor stores), or grab a case online, and make sure you tag us on social media so we can celebrate with you!
