te Pa Chardonnay is the No. 2 in NZ

In what is shaping up to be one of our most awarded years on record, our sublime 2016 Chardonnay has now been named one of New Zealand's top 10 Chardonnays by wine bible, Cuisine Magazine.

That's right folks.

We're proud to announce that our incredible second vintage te Pā Chardonnay has won 5 stars in the Cuisine Chardonnay tastings. Not only has it been named one of New Zealand's top 10 Chardonnay Best Buys, but it has taken out the number two spot in the awards, which makes it arguably the second best Chardonnay in the country.

John Saker, who sat on the esteemed panel of judges on the Cuisine Chardonnay tastings, says of this year's entries:

"Chardonnay is on a roll right now, fuelled as much by fired-up winemakers who love working with the grape as by increased consumer interest. This latest Cuisine tasting confirmed the happy state of Kiwi Chardonnay."

Saker's co-judge and panel chair John Belsham also had high praise for the wines in the top spots:

"Our top line-up is evidence that New Zealand Chardonnay can be top class. It’s definitely a wine style with which we can compete on the world stage."

Check out the full tasting note from Cuisine's Chardonnay tasting here.

The judges' tasting note makes us very thirsty for a glass of this top drop! "The fruit is pristine and a wonderful marriage of stone fruit and citrus."

Our single vineyard, hand-picked Chardonnay is a modern and sophisticated expression of the varietal. Aged in a beautiful mix of French oak barrels from our most trusted coopers, with 30% new oak, this complex and integrated Chardonnay was given almost a full year in barrel to develop and evolve before we bottled it in early 2017.

Undergoing 50% malo-lactic fermentation, our Chardonnay delivers inviting smoky, oaky notes on the nose, with its surprisingly fresh and fruit-forward palate delighting wine lovers around the world.

For a dreamy food match, pair this Chardonnay with a rich chicken dish, or even a decadent seafood meal. The beautiful line of acidity and freshness will cut through the heavier flavours, while the oak characteristics and subtle richness make this a great wine to stand up to bolder foods too.

Here's the full technical info and tasting note for this awarded and delicious wine.

You can find this fabulous Chardonnay in select wine stores and Liquorland stores across New Zealand, or get in touch directly if you would like to find your nearest stockist and we'll point you in the right direction.
