Raymond Chan is widely regarded as one of New Zealand's most trusted wine critics. His website is well worth checking out if you haven't already. As you can imagine, we are very pleased with Raymond's recent reviews of our summer release wines, including our floral and vibrant 2016 Pinot Gris.
Golden. Blush. Fresh. Exotic. Florals. Subtle. Bright. Lively. Vibrant.
These are just a few of the words Raymond's used to describe our Pinot Gris - and to be honest, we're getting a little thirsty at the thought of it!
This beautiful wine was described by Raymond as:
"Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues and a suggestion of blush, paler edged. The nose is fresh and aromatic with lifted pear fruit entwined with exotic florals and yellow stonefruits, unveiling subtle honied notes. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is bright and lively with aromatic fruit flavours of exotic florals, pear fruit, and lifted esters, and honeysuckle notes.
The wine has a finely concentrated core and flows along a finely textured line with balanced, fresh acidity lending energy and tension. Some underlying alcoholic power adds to the drive, and the palate carries to a long and sustained finish of pears and florals.
This is a bright and lively, aromatic, dryish Pinot Gris with pear and exotic floral fruit on a vibrant line."
For a food match, Raymond recommends you pair this Gris with Asian cuisine, and enjoy it for drinking now or for cellaring over the next 3-4 years.
