Quadruple gold medals at the Marlborough Wine Show
The hot streak continues for Team te Pā, with the exciting news that we've won FOUR gold medals at the Marlborough Wine Show.
The hotly competitive wine show gets hundreds of entries from all of the best wine producers, so to have so many wines win gold medals is a really awesome outcome.
The below wines were awarded gold medals, with some stunningly delicious tasting notes to boot:
te Pā 2025 Sauvignon Blanc: "Building nose of sweet fruit and florals, flirting with greens. Generous flavour and textural, chalky palate."
te Pā 2023 Chardonnay: "Good drive and tension, good secondary flavors. Good stone fruit. Good use of oak."
te Pā 2022 Reserve Collection Auntsfield Chardonnay: "Funky complex sulphides, intense, sinewy cedar, oak, very tight. Lime peel. Stonefruit, cashew, creamy texture, fine."
te Pā 2024 Reserve Collection Westhaven Pinot Noir: "Pretty medicinal, awatere style, cranberry, red fruit intense, fantastic wine, well woven, energetic."
We'll take those delicious tasting notes!
Chief Judge Stu Marfell said the 2024 season had been a hard act to follow, and that this year’s entries included Pinot Noir and Chardonnay entries of that vintage. “They were pretty amazing,” he says. “Then with the 2025 vintage, there were such beautiful weather conditions coming into harvest and there was some pristine fruit, and that was coming through in those aromatic whites. The Sauvignon Blanc has been absolutely outstanding in particular.”
Stu was joined by Guest Judges Sam Kim and Australian judge Toni Paterson, Master of Wine, as well as 12 local judges in tasting more than 600 wines, which made up 562 entries this year.
