We are absolutely pumped to announce that three of our new vintage red wines have won Gold Medals at Kingsley Wood's New Zealand International Wine Show.
Our stunning new 2019 Montford Estate 'Manny' wine, our Hawke's Bay red blend, took out a gold medal in the Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Sauvignon Predominant Blends category.
And in the hotly contested Pinot Noir category, both our te Pa Pinot Noir 2019 and our te Pa Reserve Taylor River Pinot Noir 2019 won golds.
About our Gold Medal winning red wines:
2019 Montford Estate Manny: This is a bold Hawke’s Bay red blend, comprised of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 24% Merlot, and 3% Tempranillo. Black fruits, cassis and tobacco are layered with cedar, spice and floral elements. Named after Montford Estate’s founder Haysley’s MacDonald’s grandfather James Nicholas I ‘Manny’ MacDonald, and Haysley’s oldest son, Manny (Not Yet Released, click to shop our 2017 Merlot-Cab or email us to pre-order the 2019 Manny).
2019 te Pa Pinot Noir: Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed and aged in a mix of new and old French oak barrels from our most trust coopers, the wine offers complex savoury notes which sit beautifully alongside the rich and rambling berry fruit notes (New vintage, just released, click to shop).
2019 te Pa Reserve Taylor River Pinot Noir: This small batch, ultra premium Pinot Noir possesses a complex and attractive spectrum of aromas of red fruits, liquorice, violets, fresh tobacco, and musk. The palate displays classic Pinot Noir characters of cherry, cola, and cranberry with a layers of five spice, cinnamon, and aniseed. The new oak provides some subtle coffee and mocha notes. The primary fruit is enveloped by fine, chalky tannins (Not Yet Released, click to shop our current 2017 vintage or email us to pre-order the 2019 Manny.)
