Celebrating Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is such a wonderful opportunity to shower the one you love with some TLC. Or, to show yourself some love!
Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about flowers or gifts - sometimes, a special home cooked meal, or a cheeky cheese platter with a special bottle of wine, can be even more memorable and heart-felt. Here's our favourite ways to celebrate the day of love:
Virtual wine tasting on Zoom
With much of the world still in the throes of the pandemic, using Zoom, Skype or Facetime is the perfect way to stay connected with your loved ones, when you can't be near them in person.
So - why not use one of these smart online platforms to organise a virtual wine tasting? Organise the wines before hand, or simply get your loved ones to open a bottle of something yummy, and enjoy a glass 'together but apart'.
Wine & Cheese tasting at home
Could there be anything easier, and more delicious, than creating a beautiful cheese platter full of local goodies, and pairing it with some nice wines?
We love chilled Sauvignon Blanc with a salty goat's cheese, a big red wine like Pinot Noir or Cabernet-Sauvignon with a rich and tangy blue cheese, and of course, you can't go wrong with a creamy soft cheese like Brie or Camembert with a juicy glass of Rosé.
Picnic on the lounge floor or on the porch
Need we say more? Grab a cosy blanket, some tasty and portable snacks like popcorn, sandwiches or make some little bite sized canapes, and have a full blown picnic in the living room or on the balcony. Wine helps, of course!
Cook a romantic meal at home
And for the adventurous amateur cooks, nothing beats creating a fabulous, romantic and gourmet meal at home.
With so many options for amazing online delivery of fresh and local kai (food) and kai moana (seafood), there's nothing stopping you from getting a whole crayfish / lobster, oysters, meats, or veggies delivered to your door, so you can create a restaurant quality meal from the comfort and safety of your own kitchen. Think of the satisfaction if you whipped up a crayfish risotto paired with a silky smooth Chardonnay, or a classic Beef Wellington with a hearty Pinot Noir?
