High scores & trio of Special Value Awards with Halliday Wine Companion
Our team has reason to celebrate once again, with the news of some fabulous new scores and recognition in the latest Halliday Wine Companion tasting.
Halliday is Australia's most widely read wine publication, so we are loving the glowing comments and scores, and best of all, three of the four wines reviewed, also received 'Special Value' awards, which is a distinction given only to wines that offer exceptional value for money, regardless of price point. It is a stamp of approval from Halliday that signals over-delivery on quality vs price to consumers, which is something we pride ourselves on.
Check out the fantastic scores, positive comments, and great scores from Halliday's Marlborough wine reviewer, Shanteh Wale, below:
te Pā 2023 Reserve Collection Auntsfield Chardonnay (92 points)
The Auntsfield vineyard is located in the Southern Valleys. Sliced lemons and white peach, some baked apple and pear skin. A heady, toasty oak tone of sandalwood and cumin spice. Some curry leaf and dried pineapple rings. Some sawdust and mealy oat creaminess. Full bodied but held with nervy acidity.
te Pā 2024 Reserve Collection Seaside Sauvignon Blanc (92 Points, Special Value Award)
Fruit is from the Lower Wairau from a vineyard called Wairau Bar Home. This speaks of sliced mango, yellow guava and papaya. Some orange oil base tones. The herbal tones are far removed and instead you'll find some ginger and lemongrass quills. As exotic as it feels, it is also lusciously textural. A very fine wine of excellent value.
te Pā 2024 Reserve Collection Hillside Sauvignon Blanc (92 Points, Special Value Award)
Fruit is from the Redwood Hills vineyard in the Awatere Valley. Here you climb steadily into the fernery, cut aloe and gooseberry. A hint of pineapple leaf and lemon balm. Fruit intensifies on the palate with ripe golden apples and zested lemons. It's succulent and concentrated with citrus and leafy herbs. Acidity rolls in waves and leaves a clean finish. Another wine from the family estate of sheer value and purity.
Pā Road 2025 Sauvignon Blanc (91 Points, Special Value Award)
Māori-owned winery te Pā brings you this '25 Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the Lower Wairau Valley. The wine is full of yellow tropical fruits, guava, lemon and pineapple rings. A sliver of aloe and buffalo grass greenery. Fruit swells on the palate, abundant with citrus blossom and bursting with young coconut milk creaminess. It's pure fruit delight and choice value.
