Our Koha Sauvignon Blanc gets a 'Best Buy' award from Wine Enthusiast

  • by Mikela Dennison

We are absolutely delighted to share that our Koha Sauvignon Blanc (2024 vintage) has just been awarded a 'Best Buy' title from Wine Enthusiast Magazine in the USA.

We are so proud of this new acclaim. Best Buy wines are categorised as; "Products that offer a high level of quality in relation to price. Wines meriting this award are generally priced at $20 or less, and are designated Best Buys after surpassing 85 points and a specific quality-to-price ratio benchmark.

This is the second time our Koha Sauvignon Blanc has been awarded a Best Buy title from Wine Enthusiast, with the 2021 vintage receiving the same accolade.

Check out the rave review for the 2024 vintage below:

"Comparatively subtle notes of nectarine, passion fruit and citrus (with an herb-speckled underbelly) flow to a straightforward palate. There’s some nice roundness—even a pithy quality—to the texture, which, when combined with the prickly acidity, equates to versatile, food-friendly sipping. Banville Wine Merchants. Best Buy. —C.P."

We know that now, more than ever, people want to make smart wine buying decisions and make every dollar count, so getting a 'Best Buy' endorsement from one of the world's leading wine publications is a fantastic tick of approval.

"Versatile, food-friendly sipping"

It is great to see that Christina's review noted our Koha Sauvignon Blanc as offering; "versatile, food-friendly sipping". In today's wine world, we know that more and more people are reaching for wines that are easy-drinking, refreshingly crisp, and will go well with whatever you're having for dinner.

We love to pair this crisp, bright wine with a range of fresh seafood dishes, especially mussels, clams, fresh white fish or salmon, or for more decadent choices, try it with some local oysters, lobster, scallops, or even some umami-laden uni (or kina, as we call it in New Zealand).

Available in 30+ USA states

With distribution and points of sale in more than 30 states, and shipping nationwide to most of the USA, with a sharp price point sitting between USD$14 - 18, there's never been a better time to try this highly recommended 'Best Buy' sipper.

With stockists including Wine Library, Gary's Liquor, Total Wine & More, to Yianni's in Virginia Beach and Beverage Warehouse in Michigan, you have tonnes of great options to purchase a bottle to try.

te Pā 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Oke awarded 'Editor's Choice'

We are also celebrating the success of our gorgeous te Pā Sauvignon Blanc Oke, which has been awarded the Wine Enthusiast 'Editor's Choice' pick in the June / July issue.

Editor's Choice wines are carefully selected, and these wines; "Are products that offer excellent quality at a price above our Best Buy range, or a product at any price with unique qualities that merit special attention."

Check out the stunning review and whopping 94 point score below:

"This oak-aged wine, from unique, ultramaritime blocks owned by the Māori family, the MacDonalds, drinks more like a white Bordeaux than your typical Marlborough Savvy B. It’s nutty and smoky, with a mineral thread through the lemon and grapefruit. It all comes together on the palate where a rush of mouthwatering, salted, citric acidity is padded out by the creamier, toastier textural elements. With beautiful linearity and tautness, this should age gracefully for another seven-to-eight years. But why wait? It’s drinking deliciously now. Banville Wine Merchants. Editor’s Choice. —C.P. abv: 13% Price: $30"

This was the highest scored New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in the whole tasting, so we are absolutely delighted with the result. We thank Christina Pickard and the Wine Enthusiast for the endorsements.

If you'd like to list or stock either of these acclaimed drops, please get in touch with our US importer, Banville Wine Merchants. Both wines are also available in South Korea with our importer Dong Won Wine Plus. Get in touch if you would like to import this stunning wine - we'd love to hear from new potential partners!
